Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – Please be advised that the municipal overnight winter parking ban will continue to be enforced 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, to allow crews to properly clear the streets and sidewalks from last night’s storm.

Vehicles must be off municipal streets during these hours. Residents should also be aware that under section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act, tickets can be issued and vehicles can be towed any time they are parked in a manner that interferes with snow clearing.

Most areas of the municipality received 15-20 centimetres of snow overnight. Crews have been maintaining Priority 1 routes and about 40 per cent of Priority 2 routes are cut open; however drifting and existing ice and snow pack on the roads have created slippery conditions in most areas.

Please note that under the current conditions and given ongoing snow and ice clean up from a storm earlier this week the municipality cannot guarantee service standards will be met in all areas.

The overnight winter parking ban is in effect from now until March 31; however, it will only be enforced during declared snow and ice events, such as the ongoing storm.
