Halifax Regional Police has located the owner of the money previously found in Halifax.

At 2 p.m. on June 13, a Halifax Regional Police Community Relations Officer responded to a report from a person that he had found a sum of money on June 10 at approximately 10:30 a.m. inside Mike’s No Frills located at 16 Dentith Road, Halifax. The man told the store owner that he had found the money and left his contact information with the store, hoping that the owner of the money would return for it.

Yesterday, a man contacted police and advised that he had lost a sum of money in the above noted area on June 10. He was able to provide the correct denomination of the money and additional information which allowed officers to verify the validity of his claim. The money has since been turned over to him.

Halifax Regional Police extends our sincere thanks to the man who found the money and did the right thing by turning it over to police so that it could be returned to the rightful owner. We also thank the media and the public for their assistance in this matter.
