Halifax Regional Police has located the owner of the money that was found in Dartmouth earlier this week.

On April 20 at approximately 11:30 a.m., a woman who was out for a walk came upon a sum of money scattered on the street at the intersection of Laurier Street and Woodland Avenue. She picked up the bills and contacted police. A media release was issued on April 21 in an attempt to locate the owner.

Yesterday, a man contacted police and advised that he had lost a sum of money in the area on April 20. He was able to provide the correct denomination of the billsand additional information which allowed officers to verify the validity of his claim. The money has since been turned over to him.

We extend our sincere thanks to the woman who found the money and did the right thing by turning it over to police so that it could be returned to the rightful owner

Halifax Regional Police thanks the media and the public for their assistance in this matter.
