Halifax Regional Police is advising that the pedestrian involved in a vehicle/pedestrian collision in August has died.

At 7:34 p.m. on August 2, Halifax Regional Police responded to the area of the Armdale Roundabout in relation to a vehicle/pedestrian collision. The vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old Halifax woman, was travelling northbound onto Joseph Howe Drive when it struck a 72-year-old man in a marked crosswalk. The man was transported to hospital at the time with life-threatening injuries. Members of the Halifax Regional Police Accident Investigation Unit and Forensic Identification Section investigated the matter. Officers issued the driver a ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, which carries a fine of $697.50.

Police have been advised that the victim, Michael David Caryi of Halifax, succumbed to his injuries today. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
