Police advising public of sexual assault & seeking public assistance

The Sexual Assault Investigation Team of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a sexual assault that occurred over the weekend.

At approximately 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, a 27-year-old woman was in area of the Garrison Grounds by Sackville Street and Bell Road when a man approached her and made a sexual comment while he touched himself. The man then grabbed the woman and pushed her to the ground from behind. The woman screamed and fought the man off which is believed to have caused the suspect to flee in the direction of the Cogswell Roundabout. He’s described as approximately 5”6’ with a slim build and wearing a black hoodie, black sweat pants and a dark coloured toque at the time of the incident. His ethnicity is unknown but he spoke with an accent.

Shortly after the incident, officers arrested a 28-year-old man matching the suspect description in the area of the Cogswell Roundabout, however, he was released without charges at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 21 pending further investigation.
