Police arrest robbery suspect Christmas morning

On December 25, police responded to a robbery in Dartmouth.

 A lone male suspect entered the Ultramar located at 10 Highfield Park Drive and demanded cash and cigarettes. The suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and product. No one was injured during the incident and although the suspect stated that he was armed, no weapon was initially seen.

Halifax Regional Police patrol members arrested the suspect a short distance away and found him in possession of the stolen items and a knife. During the arrest, the male held a knife out toward a male officer but subsequently complied with police direction and was arrested without further incident. The officer was not injured.   

A 28-year-old Dartmouth man faces charges of robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assaulting a peace officer. The accused will be held for court.
