Police charge four people after search of two illegal cannabis dispensaries

Police have charged four people after conducting a search of two illegal cannabis dispensaries yesterday.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., members of the Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search warrant at Farm Assist located at 2320 Gottingen Street in Halifax. Investigators seized over $43,000, approximately 45 pounds of cannabis and over 4000 other cannabis products.

At approximately 4:20 p.m., a second search was conducted at Farm Assist located at 5106 Highway #7 in Porters Lake. Investigators seized approximately three pounds of cannabis and approximately 500 other cannabis products.

Four people were arrested at the Gottingen Street location without incident. Jordan Thomas Higgins, 30, of Pleasantville, Kristia Angle, 36, of Halifax, Amanda Marie Harris-Lunn, 27, of Halifax and Keyli Terra Holloway, 29, of Wellington are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing contrary to Section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling contrary to Section 10(2) of the Cannabis Act  
  • Possession for the use in production or distribution of illicit cannabis contrary to Section 13(1) of the Cannabis Act
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

The only legal way to buy recreational cannabis in Nova Scotia is through NSLC outlets. The only legal way for Canadians to access medical cannabis is through Health Canada. If anyone has information about illegal sales, they are encouraged to report it to police or Crime Stoppers.
