The RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crimes Unit has charged a man for attempting to hire a person to commit Murder.

On August 5, a complaint was received at the Tantallon RCMP about a possible attempt to murder a 46-year-old man from Beaver Bank.   The matter was turned over to investigators in the Major Crime Unit.

Yesterday, August 8, a 69-year-old man from Halifax was arrested and subsequently charged by investigators.   Brian Kenneth Penney is charged with Counselling to Commit Murder under Section 464 (a) of the Criminal Code.  He is appearing in Halifax Provincial Court this morning.

Police allege that between April 1 and July 31, 2013, Penney attempted to hire a man to kill a 46-year-old Beaver Bank man. The intended victim in this incident was not harmed.

If an individual solicits someone to commit an offence and the offence is not committed, the individual that did the soliciting has committed the offence of counselling.
