Police charge man for robbery

Police have charged a man in relation to a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth earlier this week.

At approximately 6 p.m. on June 7, a man armed with a knife approached a woman who was walking in the area of Waterside Terrace. The man demanded that she give him her property. The man cut the victim’s hand with the knife and took her property. He then fled the area in a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle stolen on June 6 in Halifax.

A short time later, purchases were made at two different stores that were charged to the woman’s credit card.

On June 8 at approximately 10:30 p.m. police arrested the suspect at an address on Ridge Valley Road in Halifax. Officers also recovered the stolen vehicle at that location.

Tyrin Francis Gibson, 21 is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession weapons dangerous
  • Uttering Threat to cause death
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fraud by credit card
  • Fraud under $5,000
