Police charge man for stunting in high traffic area

Shortly before noon today, police charged a man for driving in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit on Highway 102 in Halifax

At approximately 11:30 a.m. an officer with the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 102 inbound as it approached Exit 2a. The officer captured the vehicle’s speed at 131 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. This area is also currently undergoing construction.

A 20-year-old man from Halifax was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In addition, he was suspended from driving for one week and his vehicle was seized and towed.

The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
