Officers have charged two men and recovered a stolen vehicle after a hit-and-run collision in Halifax this morning.

At 8:23 a.m., officers responded to Olivet Street after a collision between a minivan and a pickup truck. A minivan driven by a 44-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck as it exited the parking lot of an apartment building. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck fled the area on foot, leaving the pickup truck at the scene with the engine running. The woman was not injured. Officers located the pair a short while later on Chebucto Road where they were taken into custody without incident. The truck was later determined to have been stolen from an address on Olivet Street shortly before the collision.

Two men, 27 and 31, both of Halifax, are being held in custody, and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court tomorrow. They are each facing the following charges:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of break tools
  • Failing to remain at the scene of a collision

Both men also face numerous breaches of previously imposed court orders
