Police charge two youths after rash of incidents in Dartmouth

A male and female youth have been charged following a rash of incidents in Dartmouth Sunday night.    

Between 9:40 p.m. and 10:04 p.m. on May 7 in the area of Dorthea Drive, Cross Road and Carlson Court in Dartmouth, there were four separate incidents which consisted of a suspicious circumstance, a home invasion, an assault of a 23-year-old man and an attempted break and enter. 

Several Halifax Regional Police and Cole Harbour RCMP patrol members responded to the area in an attempt to locate the suspects. A police K-9 team conducted a search of the area and arrested two people in the 300-block of Poplar Drive, Cole Harbour. A 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old female were arrested and interviewed by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. Please note that the male age was previously stated as 16, but he is 17.

The 17-year old male youth from Dartmouth has been charged with assault causing bodily harm in relation to the assault on the 23-year-old man, and 15-year-old girl from Halifax has been charged with two counts of breach of an undertaking and three counts of breach of a recognizance for an unrelated matter. Both are to appear in Halifax Provincial Youth Court today. 

The investigations are ongoing with respect to the other incidents. These incidents occurred within close proximity and time to one another and are believed to be related.
