Police Conduct Searches in Connection with September Shooting

The man who was in police custody in relation to this matter has been released without charges. The investigation continues.

Police have arrested a man after two searches were conducted this morning in Halifax in connection with a shooting on September 21, 2013.

At 9:12 p.m. on September 21, officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the Jarvis Lane area of Mulgrave Park in Halifax. During the search of the area, several shell casings and bullet fragments were found. No victims were located and no suspects were taken into custody at the time.

As part of the investigation, members of the Integrated HRP/RCMP General Investigation Section and the Integrated HRP/RCMP Guns and Gangs Unit, with the assistance of the HRP Emergency Response Team, executed two criminal code search warrants early this morning. One of the searches was conducted at a residence in the 2400 block of Brunswick Street, and the other at a residence in the 2500 block of Gottingen Street. Both searches were conducted at approximately 4:50 a.m.

A woman located at the Brunswick Street residence was taken into custody and later released. A man was arrested during the Gottingen Street search and remains in police custody at this time. The investigation is on-going.
