Police Continue to Investigate Death of Inmate

Investigators in the Halifax Regional Police/RCMP Major Crime Unit are continuing their investigation into yesterday’s death of an inmate at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside.

At 9:07 a.m. yesterday, police received a report of a sudden death of a male inmate at the jail and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. He has since been identified as 25-year-old Calder Ross Collins of Mount Stewart, Prince Edward Island.

An autopsy was performed yesterday afternoon, however, the cause of death cannot be determined until toxicology tests are completed. Investigators do not suspect foul play in the death.
