There have been four homicides in HRM so far this year, with charges being laid in three of these incidents. Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in the remaining unsolved homicide that occurred in Dartmouth in January.

On January 7, at 5:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Primrose Street and Pinecrest Drive. Officers learned that there was an altercation between several men in a backyard at that location that resulted in 24-year-old Raymond Floyd Peters being shot several times. The victim was able to run to an address on Jackson Road where he took refuge in an apartment. He was transported to hospital by EHS where he later died. The suspect fled on foot. This is not believed to be a random act.

The suspect is described as a black man, in his twenties, 5’8”. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue hoodie and black pants.
