Investigators in the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are continuing the investigation into the suspicious death that occurred last night in Clayton Park.

At about 10:13 p.m. on January 21, Halifax Regional Police responded to an unknown trouble call in an apartment building at 10 Harlington Crescent. Officers located a deceased man, believed to be in his late fifties, in a hallway. A short time later, a 20-year-old man was taken into custody near a Halifax Transit bus stop on Willett Street with regards to the investigation. The man was transported to the QEII Health Sciences Center for treatment for what were described as life-threatening injuries.

The deceased man has yet to be positively identified, however, an autopsy is scheduled for later today by the Medical Examiner.  The 20-year-old remains in hospital and his condition is preventing officers from speaking with him at this time. At this point in the investigation, this matter is not considered a random act as investigators believe the two men were known to one another. We are not seeking any other suspects at this time, however, it is very early in the investigation and investigators are continuing to piece together what happened.

Today, investigators are canvassing the neighbourhood and forensics officers are processing the scene. Police are looking to speak to anyone who may have information on this death, specifically anyone who may have seen the 20-year-old man fleeing the apartment. Anyone with information may call 902-490-5016 or anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
