Police to host training session for apartment owners/managers

Halifax Regional Police is hosting a training session for apartment owners and managers who are interested in having their building certified as part of the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program (CFMH).

CFMH is a unique crime prevention program that helps apartment owners, managers, residents, police and other agencies work together to make rental communities safer. The one-day workshop will teach owners and managers crime prevention concepts designed to reduce illegal and nuisance activity in rental communities.

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Where: Park Place Hotel and Convention Centre – Ramada Plaza

               240 Brownlow Avenue, Dartmouth

 Cost:      The $85 registration fee covers the cost of the training session and training materials.

The training session is the first step of the three phase program; Phase 2 consists of a police officer performing a security evaluation to ensure the property meets minimum security standards and Phase 3 involves the owner/manager hosting an annual Safety Social where residents can learn crime prevention techniques and tips on making their homes safer. Following the completion of all three phases, the owner/manager will earn the privilege to post signs stating they have joined the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program and may use the CFMHP logo for marketing purposes.
