Police investigate an assault with a weapon in Halifax

At 12:20 a.m. on January 24, Halifax Regional Police responded to a physical altercation with one male injured by a hatchet in an apartment, in the 2300 block of Gottingen Street in Halifax. Patrol officers located a 36-year-old man from Halifax, with non-life-threatening injuries, in one apartment. Police located and arrested the suspect in another apartment. Both men are known to one another. 

A 40-year-old man from Halifax is being held for court facing charges of attempted murder, assault with a weapon and mischief. Officers with Patrol, the General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation.
