Police investigate robbery with weapon GO #19-166619

On November 24 at 2:09 a.m., Halifax Regional Police were flagged over in the 5700 block of West Street, Halifax by a 38-year-old man. He reported he was inside the Commons Inn when he was attacked by a man with a knife and squirted with bear spray. 

While speaking with police, the victim identified the suspect exiting the building. Officers arrested the a 22-year-old man without incident. Officers were then able to follow the smell of bear spray to a unit inside the building and arrested two 18-year-old women inside. 

Police secured the unit while a Search Warrant was obtained by members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

The victim sustained minor injuries from the spray and was treated by Emergency Health Service paramedics at the scene. It is not known if the victim and suspects are known to each other, the investigation is ongoing. The 22-year-old suspect will be facing charges of robbery and weapons related offences.
