Police investigate shoplifter - pictures

At 8 p.m. last night, officers on patrol observed the suspect driving a car in Dartmouth and officers arrested him without incident after he pulled into a parking lot in the 0-100 block of Caledonia Road. Twenty-four-year-old Christopher Neil Horsman of Dartmouth was held in custody overnight. He will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today to face seven counts each of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen goods under $5,000 and breach of probation. He was also served a Summary Offence Ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for driving while his license is revoked.

We thank everyone who helped by sharing the suspect’s pictures on various social media platforms and calling in tips regarding his identity. This incident demonstrates both the power of social media and the important role citizens play in helping police fight crime.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance to identify a man responsible for a number of thefts in the past six weeks in Dartmouth.

Between October 15 and November 22, officers responded to a number of thefts of product from the Atlantic Superstore located at 650 Portland Street. The suspect believed to be responsible for these thefts stole over $3,000 worth of products ranging from electronics to kitchen appliances and toys.

The suspect is a white man, in his thirties, 5’9”, 180 lbs with facial hair. His clothing varied from one incident to the other but he has been seen wearing a black “Under Armour” ball cap and a black jacket with a white lining in most of the incidents.
