Police Investigate Suspected Impaired Driver

This morning at 4:02 a.m., Halifax Regional Police attempted to stop a suspected impaired driver in a white Volkswagon Passat at Windsor Street & Bedford Highway Exchange, Halifax. The vehicle did not stop when police activated emergency lights and then fled at a high rate of speed. Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance and then called off the pursuit due to the speed of the vehicle, which entered a residential area.

Minute’s later police located the vehicle abandoned on Bayers Road. Patrol officers and a Police Service Dog searched the area for the driver, however, officers were not able to locate the driver. The vehicle has been seized and the investigation is ongoing.
