Police investigate vehicle collision GO#21-59970

Update: Halifax Regional Police are saddened to report that a 5-year-old child involved in a vehicle collision at Portland Street and Spring Avenue, Dartmouth on Friday, May 21, has succumbed to injuries. Our condolences and thoughts are with the family and loved ones at this difficult time. 

At 4:22 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a vehicle collision involving a car and pickup truck at the intersection of Portland Street and Spring Avenue in Dartmouth. A driver and a 5-year-old had been transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  

Investigators with the Accident Investigation and Forensic Identification Section continue to conduct the investigation, and there are no further updates available at this time.

On May 21 at 4:22 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a vehicle collision involving a car and pickup truck at the intersection of Portland Street and Spring Avenue, Dartmouth. The woman driver and 5-year-old child in the car sustained life-threatening injuries. Both have been transported to the hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured. 

The investigation is in the early stages and investigators with the Accident Investigation and Forensic Identification Section and are conducting the investigation. At this time, it is not known if charges are pending.

Traffic Blocked: All East bound (out bound) traffic on Portland Street is blocked Eisener Boulevard and Portland Estates Boulevard/Spring Avenue. Traffic will remain blocked for an extended period.
