Police Investigating Assault

(10:10 a.m.)Halifax Regional Police is investigating an assault that took place in Halifax during the early morning hours of January 1, 2012.

At approximately 2:10 a.m., a woman was walking her dog on Deal Street in the area of Dutch Village Road when she was approached by two women who came from a nearby apartment building stairway. One of the women attempted to instigate an argument with the victim and then assaulted her. The second woman also joined in the assault and referred to the other suspect as her sister. Three other females are believed to have been with the suspects but they didn’t take part in the assault. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The two suspects are described as black women, 18 to 24-years-old, 5’6”, 150-180 lbs. with long dark hair.
