Police investigating bank robbery

UPDATE - Update to the robbery at the Royal Bank,on June 30, t 3:45 p.m., police received information that a suspect matching the description was walking in the 6100 block of Almon Street. Officers arrested the 66-year-old man without incident. Robert Leo White is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court tomorrow to face a charge of robbery.

Halifax Regional Police are currently at the scene of a bank robbery in Halifax.

At 12:10 p.m., officers responded to the RBC Royal Bank located at 5855 Spring Garden Road after a man entered the bank, stated that he had a weapon and demanded money. The man fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. He’s described as a white man in his sixties, 5’9”, with a heavy build, grey hair and he was unshaven. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black ball cap with white lettering, beige polo shirt and blue jeans. No one was injured during the incident and although the suspect stated that he was armed, no weapon was seen.

At this time, officers assigned to the Integrated General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division are in the early stages of the investigation.
