Police investigating early morning stabbing

Charges have been laid in relation to the stabbing incident from earlier this morning. A 29-year-old man from the Halifax area has been charged with the following offences: aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and impaired driving. The accused is being held in police custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court tomorrow morning.

At 4:25 a.m. on February 2, HRP officers attended a stabbing incident that occurred on the roadside near St. Margarets Bay Road and Albert Walker Drive in Halifax. The victim, a 28-year-old man, had been in a verbal altercation with a man that became physical, resulting in the victim being slashed in the face with a sharp object causing a significant facial injury. A 29-year-old male suspect was identified in relation to the assault and officers attended his residence located in the 6000 block of Jubilee Road in Halifax. Upon arrival at the residence, the responding officers confirmed that the suspect was in the home. The suspect was initially uncooperative with police but eventually surrendered to members of the HRP Emergency Response Team. The suspect remains in police custody at this time and this investigation is in its early stages.

The victim in this matter has been treated at the hospital and released.
