Police Investigating Shooting - UPDATE

On December 23, at approximately  9:10 p.m.  Sackville RCMP located the victim’s vehicle, a yellow Pontiac Aztec, and attempted to pull over the operator of the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop for police and was involved in a pursuit which ended in a collision with an RCMP Cruiser and a civilian vehicle. No one was injured during this incident. The male operator of the vehicle was arrested, and will be held for court in the morning. He faces attempted murder charges, several firearms related charges from the shooting incident as well as new charges stemming from the vehicle pursuit. 

 

December 22 - The HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section is currently investigating a shooting that occurred this morning in Halifax.

At 5:50 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of a business in the 900 block of Parkland Drive. Officers learned that a 53-year-old man was in a verbal dispute with a man known to him. The suspect assaulted the victim and fired several shots at him but he was not hit. The victim was able to make his way to a nearby business where he called police. The suspect left the area in the victim’s car which has yet to be located. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries from the assault and was transported to hospital by EHS.

Investigators are looking for the victim’s yellow Pontiac Aztek. The suspect is described as a Middle-Eastern man, 20-years-old, thin build, 5’10”, black hair and brown eyes. At the time of the incident, he was wearing all dark clothing.

The suspect is believed to be armed. Citizens should not approach the suspect and call 911 if they observe the vehicle. Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are in the early stages of the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5020.
