Police Investigating Stabbing

UPDATE -- On Friday, March 20 at 10:22 p.m. officers arrested a 23-year-old male without incident in the 100 Block of Wyse Road, Dartmouth in relation to the stabbing that occured on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 17 outside the Halifax Central Library on Spring Garden Road. The man is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday, March 23 to face charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a stabbing that occurred earlier today in Halifax.

At 12:44 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing outside the Halifax Central Library on Spring Garden Road. Officers located a 35-year-old man who had been stabbed in the face by a suspect that left the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was taken to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries 

The suspect is described as a white man in his twenties, 6’, 220 lbs., with a shaved head. He was last seen leaving the area on foot wearing a red hat, grey t-shirt and jeans.

Investigators are in the early stages of the investigation. Anyone with information about this stabbing is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020.
