Police investigating suspicious fires

Investigators with the Integrated General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division are asking for the public’s help with several suspicious fires that occurred the past month in peninsular Halifax.

Since June 1, Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to 14 calls involving mailboxes and garbage cans that had been set on fire. They were quickly extinguished, no one was injured and limited property damage was reported. Most of the fires occurred between 3 and 9 p.m. and there is no suspect description.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police at 490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
