Police investigating suspicious person

Halifax Regional Police is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who approached a child and offered to drive her to school.

This morning, officers received a report that on November 5 at 8:05 a.m., a man driving a minivan pulled up beside an 11-year-old girl who was walking to school on St. Paul’s Avenue in Herring Cove. The man rolled down his window slightly and told the girl that her mother had given him permission to drive her to school. Knowing this wasn’t true, the girl immediately ran away from the man.   

There is a limited suspect description at this time. He is described as a man and the vehicle is described as a black, older model minivan.

Investigators are asking anyone who has any information on this incident to contact police by calling 902-490-5020.
