Halifax Regional Police have issued summary offence tickets in two separate incidents over the weekend for failing to comply with the regulations set out in the Health Protection Act.
On January 8 at approximately 9:30 p.m. police investigated a report that a delivery driver for a Bedford restaurant was not wearing a mask while delivering orders to an apartment building. The provincial regulations require everyone to a wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth while present in a public place. Officers issued a summary offence ticket to the man for violating 71(1b) of the Health Protection Act which carries a fine of $1,000.
On January 10 at approximately 12:30 a.m. police received a report of a social gathering at a residence in Halifax that was exceeding the provincially mandated gathering limits. Officers issued summary offence tickets to three men for violating 71(1b) of the Health Protection Act which carries a fine of $1,000.
HRP is reminding everyone to follow the current public health measures related to the Covid-19 emergency.
We strongly advise members of the public to educate and re-educate themselves on these public health directives and COVID-19 enforcement measures, including, those related to illegal gatherings and associated fines.
