On February 201 at approximately 12:04 a.m., police received a report of a social gathering at a residence in the 1500 block of Walnut Street, Halifax that was exceeding the provincially mandated gathering limits. Officers issued four men each a Summary Offence Ticket for violating section 71(1b) of the Health Protection Act which carries a fine of $1,000.

Halifax Regional Police is reminding everyone to follow the current public health measures related to the COVID-19 emergency.

We strongly advise members of the public to educate themselves on public health directives and COVID-19 enforcement measures, including, those related to illegal gatherings and associated fines.

Enforcement of these restrictions remains a vital part of the overall strategy to curb the pandemic. We all must follow the rules and do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.
