Police issue tickets to guests at a social gathering inside a residence in violation to the Health Protection Act.
Halifax Regional Police overnight have issued 10 summary offence tickets to occupants in a Halifax home for failing to comply with the regulations set out in the Health Protection Act.
On May 1, 2021 at approximately 12:30 a.m. police received a third hand report of a loud party at a residence located in the 2000-3000 block of Parker Street in Halifax, which was contrary to the provincial regulations. Police attended and found that activities were being conducted in excess of the provincially mandated gathering limits.
All 10 occupants were issued summary offence tickets under 71 (1)(b) of the Health Protection Act for failing to comply with the Act and its regulations which now carries a fine of $2,000.
HRP is reminding everyone to follow the current public health measures related to the Covid-19 emergency.
We strongly advise members of the public to educate and re-educate themselves on these public health directives and COVID-19 enforcement measures, including, those related to illegal gatherings and associated fines.
