Police Lay Additional Charges in Theft of Firearms Incident

On August 14, 2012, Halifax Regional Police responded to a break and enter call at a residence on Lorway Drive in Dartmouth. Several items were taken, including four firearms, which were recovered by police four days later.

Last night at 9:30 p.m., officers assigned to the East Quick Response Unit arrested 26-year-old Corey William McNeil in relation to the ongoing break and enter investigation. He was held overnight and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to answer the following charges:

CC 91 (2) – Possession of a prohibited weapon CC 92 (1) – Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorizedCC 92 (2) – Possession of a prohibited deviceCC 95 (b) – Possession prohibited firearm with readily available ammunitionCC 96 (a) – Possession of a weapon obtained by crimeCC 355 (b) – Possession of property obtained by crime

A total of five people have been charged in relation to this investigation. Last week, police conducted two searches of residences in Dartmouth in relation to this investigation and seized a total of 25 firearms and a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Twenty-three-year-old Jonathan Vincent McNeil, twenty-four-year-old Robert James Coneita and two 29-year-old women, all of Dartmouth, face charges in relation to these searches.
