Police lay assault charges



Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in relation to an assault that occurred in Halifax on the weekend.

On February 10 at approximately 11:45 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance outside of the Economy Shoe Shop on Argyle Street. A man had been removed from the establishment due to his state of intoxication. Once outside, he assaulted one of the staff members causing them to strike their head on a metal post. The injured staff member was taken to hospital for treatment of what is believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face one count of assault causing bodily harm.
