Police lay charges in sexual assault

Police have charged a man in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in Halifax yesterday.

Police received a report of a sexual assault that had occurred in the early morning hours of January 21 at a hotel on Lower Water Street in Halifax. A man brought a woman who was not known him into his room and sexually assaulted her. The woman escaped and contacted police. The suspect was arrested at the hotel a short time later.

Patrick Celestine Douglas Hyslop, 43, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of sexual assault and unlawful confinement and three counts of breaching a court order.
