Police lay drug charges after traffic stop and search of residence

On January 13 at 9:08 p.m., members of the Central and West Quick Response Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highfield Park Drive and Victoria Road in Dartmouth. The driver and two passengers, a man and a woman were taken into custody.

As a result of the traffic stop, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of Isleville Street in Halifax and located a quantity of crack cocaine, a replica handgun as well as drug paraphernalia. 

Twenty-eight -year-old Maurice Sinclaire Parris and a 25-year-old woman, both from Halifax, each face possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine charges. Parris appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on January 16 and was also charged with two counts each of breach of a recognizance and breach of probation. The woman will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 14. The other man was released without charges.
