Police prepared for the Bluenose Marathon

Halifax Regional Police is prepared for this weekend’s Blue Nose Marathon, and will have a supplementary traffic detail in place to help ensure the safety of runners and keep traffic moving on Saturday and Sunday.

Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area of the marathon route which encompasses parts of Peninsular Halifax and Dartmouth. Police thank citizens in advance for their co-operation during the 11th Annual Bluenose Marathon on Sunday May 18 and the Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run and the Johnson 5 km run on Saturday May 17.

Street closures on Saturday May 17:

  • Brunswick Street between Cogswell Street and Sackville Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sackville Street from Brunswick Street to South Park Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Cogswell Street will be closed between Gottingen Street and Brunswick Street from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Street closures on Sunday May 18:

  • Brunswick Street between Cogswell Street and Sackville Street will be closed from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sackville Street from Brunswick Street to South Park Street will be closed from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Cogswell Street will be closed between Gottingen Street and Brunswick Street from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Nantucket Avenue will be closed between Wyse Road and Victoria Road from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • The curb lane on Barrington Street from Devonshire Avenue to North Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • The Macdonald Bridge will be closed to vehicles from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
