Police refer incident to SiRT

Halifax Regional Police have referred an incident to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) after a youth was injured while being arrested last night in Dartmouth.

 At approximately 10:30 p.m. police were called to a dispute inside a residence on Sinclair Street in Dartmouth. The home owners wished to have a 17- year-old youth who was known to them removed from the home.  While officers were attempting to locate a place for the youth to go, the youth’s behavior continued to escalate, and the youth assaulted the home owner and damaged property. The youth was placed under arrest, and during a brief struggle, the youth sustained an arm injury. The youth was taken to hospital for treatment of the injury. Halifax Regional Police has referred the matter to SiRT for their review.
