Police Release Photo/Request Public’s Assistance

Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man in the attached photo in connection with a robbery that occurred this afternoon in Bedford.

At 1:23 p.m., police responded to the Sunnyside Mall located at 1595 Bedford Highway for a report of a robbery in progress. A man entered the Running Room, produced a handgun, demanded cash and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. A staff member was assaulted during the incident and EHS was requested to check on her.

A picture of the man is being released to the public in hopes of identifying him. He is described as a light complected black man, approximately 30-years-old with a goatee. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black ¾ length coat, black shoes, a small peaked hat, and carrying a messenger bag.

This man should be considered armed and dangerous and members of the public should not approach him or try to take matters into their own hands. Anyone with information on his identity/whereabouts is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5016.
