Mr. Stewart turned himself in to police on August 7. He was arrested without incident and is being held for court on August 8.

Police Requesting Public’s Assistance

Officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a weekend stabbing.

On Saturday, August 4, shortly after 8 p.m., police responded to a stabbing on Forbes Street in Halifax. Several individuals were involved in an altercation outside an apartment resulting in one man being stabbed. He was transported to the QEII Hospital with what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries. This afternoon, a Canada-wide warrant was issued for 18-year-old Michael Richard Stewart. He has been charged with attempted murder, assault and four counts of breaching his probation. He is described as white, 6’2”, 190 lbs., with brown eyes, short black hair and acne on his face.

Michael Stewart is considered dangerous and members of the public should not approach him or try to take matters into their own hands. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5016.
