Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are asking for the public’s help in locating two wanted men in relation to an abduction that occurred earlier this week in Halifax.

On March 2 at 4:50 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 3000 block of McAlpine Avenue. A 19-year-old man called police from inside a residence and reported he had been assaulted and was being held against his will by several men. He also advised that one of the suspects had a handgun. He made his way out of the residence to awaiting police members and was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Contact was made with the occupants of the residence and two 16-year-old male youths were arrested and eventually charged with numerous offences. No firearms were located inside the residence. This was not a random act as the parties are known to each other.

Earlier today, an Atlantic Region-wide warrant was issued for the arrest of 21-year-old Robert Roech Chan and 20-year-old Daniel Angus Ryan, both of Halifax, in relation to this incident. Daniel Ryan is described as a black man, 5’11”, 250 lbs, with a goatee, black dreadlocks and brown eyes. Robert Chan is described as a black man, 6’1”, 170 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes.  They are both facing nine weapon-related offences, in addition to one count each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, extortion and robbery.

Chan and Ryan are believed to be in HRM at this time. They are considered armed and dangerous and members of the public should not approach them or try to take matters into their own hands. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of these men is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police at 490-5020.
