Halifax Regional Police has one person in custody in relation to a weapon complaint at 2406 Gottingen Street in Halifax.
At 10:56 a.m., several patrol units, including members of the Emergency Response Team, responded to a report of a woman armed with a firearm in an apartment on the upper floor of the building. As a precaution, officers evacuated several units surrounding the apartment and access to the building was restricted as officers made attempts to speak with the 52-year-old woman.
At 12:04 p.m., the woman, who was in the apartment alone, was taken into custody without further incident and transported to Halifax Regional Police Headquarters. Officers later located a pellet gun inside the apartment.
Officers remain on-scene and continue to investigate; however, at this time, no charges have been laid in relation to this incident. The building is now open for residents to return to their homes. We thank citizens for their cooperation.
