Police request public’s assistance locating wanted man – Owen Gibson-Skeir

Investigators with the Special Enforcement Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking for the public’s help locating a man wanted for trafficking a person under the age of 18 and other related offences.

Earlier this year, investigators commenced an investigation in relation to a 14-year-old girl being sexually exploited. It’s alleged that an adult male was trafficking the girl in Dartmouth and Halifax between January 10 and March 9, 2016.

Earlier today, an arrest warrant was issued for 20-year-old Owen Ross Gibson-Skeir of East Preston in relation to this investigation. He has been charged with procuring a person under the age of 18, trafficking a person under the age of 18, sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference, assault, uttering threats, advertising sexual services, material benefit from trafficking a person under the age of 18, material benefit from sexual services and breach of probation. He’s described as a light complected black man, 5’8”, 130 lbs., with a slim build and grey eyes, reddish-coloured hair and scruffy reddish-coloured facial hair. He also has visible tattoos on his face, neck and hands.

Gibson-Skeir is believed to still be in Halifax at this time. He is considered dangerous and members of the public should not approach him or try to take matters into their own hands, and should call 9-1-1 if they see him.
