Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit have taken over the investigation into the disappearance of a Halifax woman.

On February 17, 26-year-old Loretta Saunders was reported missing to police by her family. She was last seen in the Cowie Hill Road area in Halifax in the morning of February 13. Last night, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Essex County detachment, Loretta’s car was located in Harrow, Ontario. A 25-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were arrested without incident and are currently in the custody of the OPP on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and for outstanding warrants.

Investigators are now treating Loretta’s disappearance as suspicious. They are asking anyone who may have seen Loretta or her car, a Toyota Celica bearing Newfoudland and Labrador plate HCP 543, since February 13. Loretta is described as an Inuk woman, 5’7”, 120 lbs. with light brown straight hair.
