Police trying to locate lost child

Update: We continue to seek the public’s assistance in helping locate the young girl.  She had been seen on the beach a few minutes before a bystander called to report that she was no longer at the beach. Along with Halifax Regional Fire and emergency with other first responders, we continue to search the area and seek any information that the public may have. We thank the public for getting the message out with the limited information that is currently available.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a child that has gone missing in Halifax.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. police received a report that an approximately 5-year-old girl was missing. The girl had been playing at the beach on Kearney Lake near Hamshaw Drive.

The girl is described as white, under 4’, slim build with brown shoulder-length hair. She was last seen wearing a dark peach/maroon one-piece bathing suit. The young girl left behind a pair of denim shorts with pink and green embroidery, a blue t-shirt with “Let’s go Ninja” written on it, a pair of swim goggles and a single key.
