Today, our Police Service Dogs were each presented with a constable badge, honouring and fully recognizing them as invaluable members of HRP. It’s especially fitting to honour our dogs this month as two days ago, October 4, marked World Animal Day and the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi who is the patron saint of animals.

The dogs in the K-9 Unit are an invaluable time-saving tool in searching for people and evidence and are truly an integral part of our policing family. K-9 officers and their dogs have an incredible bond with a relationship based on immense trust. Not only are they incredible and dedicated workers, but greatly valued and cared for by their handlers and appreciated by all members of HRP.

Thanks to each and every member of the K-9 Unit, two-legged and four-legged, for their ongoing dedication and commitment to protecting and serving. A special thanks to the handlers for showing such care and pride for their dogs.

Congratulations to our beloved Police Service Dogs – Vinny, Copper, Fozzy, Taz, Nico, Steeler, Rosco and Epic.
