Tuesday, April 25, 2017 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is holding a public engagement session to seek feedback into the proposed bike lane on Almon Street.
The session will take place on Wednesday, May 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Maritime Room at the Halifax Forum, 2901 Windsor Street. The staff presentation will begin at 7:00pm.
The municipality’s Active Transportation Priorities Plan envisions a bike lane that contributes to the goal of a connected cycling network. Almon Street is a key connecting street in the north end of the peninsula that runs from Gottingen Street to Connaught Avenue.
An Almon Street bike lane could create a connection to existing bike lanes on Windsor Street, future bike routes, and provides convenient access to shopping, services and neighbourhoods.
The session will present options, answer questions and seek input from residents.
Those unable to attend the session can find all the available information at www.halifax.ca/cycling/bikelanes.php. Residents are also encouraged to share their feedback by completing an online survey at www.shapeyourcityhalifax.ca starting May 4.
Responses will be shared with Regional Council through a staff report that seeks approval for the project in early summer 2017.
