Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Changing weather conditions over the next 24 hours could pose some challenges for crews in the Halifax region, so the Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to travel safely if they need to be out on the roads and sidewalks.
Right now forecasts are calling for the rain to begin in the Halifax area late this afternoon. Overnight the rain could be heavy at times, with ice pellets in more inland areas. The rain will continue on Thursday with a chance of flurries and gusting winds.
Municipal and contracted crews will be on standby, patrolling their routes and monitoring the changing weather conditions. They will respond as necessary if the temperature drops or snow starts to accumulate on the roads and sidewalks.
Motorists should allow more time to travel to their destination tonight and tomorrow, in case there are traffic delays. Motorists are also urged to slow down and watch for areas of pooled water, as the roads may be wet and slippery.
