Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 (Halifax, NS) - With the rapidly changing weather conditions throughout the Halifax region right now, the Halifax Regional Municipal is urging residents to travel carefully during the afternoon commute, especially if you don't have winter tires.

Municipal and contracted crews are out salting and plowing, depending on the conditions in their respective areas.

Current weather forecasts are calling for a mix of rain, ice pellets and wet snow during the early evening and overnight in the Halifax region.

Motorists should leave early and allow more time to travel to their destination. Motorists are also urged to slow down, as the roads are slippery and snow-covered in some areas.

For more information on municipal snow operations, residents can go to www.halifax.ca/snow or call 311.
