Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that a section of Barrington Street in Halifax will be closed on Sunday, Aug. 17, to allow a mobile crane to set up and hoist materials in to a building that’s under construction in the area.

Starting at 8 a.m., Barrington Street will shut down to vehicle traffic between Sackville and Blowers streets. The sidewalk that runs along the outbound lane will remain open to pedestrians throughout the closure.

This work is expected to be completed the same day and the street will reopen to traffic at about 10 p.m.

Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists around the closure. Halifax Transit will reroute buses. Go to http://www.halifax.ca/metrotransit/ServiceDisruptions.php for more details on the adjusted routes.

The municipality apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this work and the temporary closure may cause.
